4 May BE 2550(CE 2007), 10.00 AM, General Surayud Chulanont, the Prime Minister of Thailand as  Chairperson of the Administrative Committee of the UN Day of Vesak Celebrations 2550(2007), presided over the committee’s meeting at the Government House (Santimaitri Building).

The Most Ven. Professor Dr. Phra Dharmakosajarn,  Rector of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, as the Chairperson of the Vesak Celebration Operating Committee, presented the progress report to the meeting which can be concluded as follows: 

“in the event of UN Day of Vesak Celebrations 2550(2007), 1,100 VIP+Delegates+Observers from 61 countries will be coming to participate in the conference. The activities in this sacred event will be organized at Buddhamonthon Nakhon Pathom and UNCC Bangkok between 26 to 29 May 2550(2007)”

At the end of the meeting, the Prime Minister of Thailand confirmed that: 
         (1) he himself has the pleasure to deliver a speech in this sacred event on 27th of May 2550(2007) at UNCC, 09.00 AM
         (2) The Thai Government has approved of the publication of the Tripitaka Scripture in brief and its distribution to various hotels and airlines.
         (3) The Thai Government has been pleased to promote the Buddhamonthon to be the world center of Buddhism.
         (4) 30 May BE 2550 (CE2007), 10.00 AM, the Thai Government has been pleased to invite the 150 monks comprising the Patriarch, Mahanayaka and Buddhist leaders from various countries for a luncheon at the  Government House.
